BLARNEY UTD APR 2000

BLARNEY GOOD AND READY

AOH Cup finalists Blarney United are on a roll and next up is Sunday's Examiner Munster Junior Cup semi-final against Limerick visitors Carew Park (Turner's Cross 3.00).

Mick Mulcahy's Blarney side were up against it in the previous round when drawn away to Waterford table toppers Carrick Utd but David Moynihan's superb equaliser brought the tie back to Monard where the Suirsiders were efficiently dispatched on a 3 - 0 scoreline. Carew Park meanwhile struggled to beat lower ranked Waterford outfit Seaview but then they were away.

Blarney are a well balanced side and, thanks largely to former international athlete Donie Walsh, a very fit outfit. Mulcahy and his assistant Ken O'Brien have built up a great team spirit and they have won a number of games this season even when playing badly. They have just one defeat on the record this term and that was away to Shamrock Boys in the FAI.

Keeper Paul Collins has often been a key figure in the side. Cormac Hayes and Paul Fitton are able defenders while the experienced pair of Moynihan and Carl Brown have the talented youngster Raymond O'Leary alongside in midfield. Goals come from a variety of sources, Tom Bevan and Declan Twomey the most likely.
